JLPT N3 Japanese Language Course
Our Japanese Language N3 course is designed for students who have completed N4 and want to reach an intermediate level of Japanese proficiency.
At Meihoku Training Center, our JLPT N3 course focuses on improving reading comprehension, listening ability, and real-world communication skills so students can understand Japanese used in everyday life, workplaces, and social situations.
The N3 level is an important step toward becoming comfortable using Japanese in academic and professional environments.
Course Overview
The JLPT N3 course builds on the knowledge gained in N4 and introduces more advanced grammar, vocabulary, and reading materials.
By the end of the course, students will be able to understand longer conversations, read more complex texts, and communicate more naturally in Japanese while preparing for the JLPT N3 exam.

Class Info (Schedule, Size and Dates)
Morning Sessions (A.M): 7:30-8:20, 8:30-9:20, 9:30-10:20, 10:30-11:20
Afternoon Sessions (P.M): 1:00-1:50, 2:00-2:50, 3:00-3:50, 4:00-4:50
- Classes held five days per week (Monday to Friday)
- Eight class periods per day with 50 minutes each, separated by 10-minute breaks
- Lunch break: 11:30 AM – 1:00 PM
- Each class has a maximum of 12 students, grouped based on understanding levels determined through tests.
- Classes are opened on a rolling basis depending on student enrollment. Please contact us for the upcoming start dates.
Study Materials
For the N3 level, students use materials designed to develop stronger reading and comprehension skills.
- “Miller’s Novels 1 & 2” to familiarize students with long-form reading comprehension
- “Sou Matome” (Somatome) JLPT N3 series covering grammar, kanji, vocabulary, reading, and listening
- We also use Irodori: Japanese for Life in Japan learning materials
- Listening apps for shadowing practice
- Past exam questions for JLPT N3 preparation
Students practice official workbooks repeatedly to eliminate mistakes and strengthen their understanding.
Kanji and Vocabulary
Students study approximately 376 kanji characters required for the JLPT N3 level.
The course also covers vocabulary and communication themes such as:
- Workplace communication in Japan
- Daily life situations
- Social expressions and cultural etiquette
- Reading longer texts and practical materials
Teaching Approach
Our teaching method focuses on helping students actively use Japanese rather than simply memorizing grammar rules.
Key learning methods include:
- Conversation-centered learning
- Listening and shadowing practice
- Repetition-based review to strengthen retention
- Active recall exercises at the end of every class
Teachers also provide additional guidance when needed to ensure students keep improving steadily.
Tests and Evaluation
Student progress is regularly assessed through:
- Vocabulary and kanji quizzes
- Grammar tests
- Reading and listening evaluations
Students who score below 80% receive additional support and revision sessions. Evaluation is based on attendance, participation, quizzes, and exam performance.
Final Exam and Certificate
At the end of the course, students must take a final exam to demonstrate their understanding of the Japanese Language N3 level.
Students who complete the course successfully receive a certificate of completion that reflects their Japanese language study and level achieved.
