Food Service Industry Training Program

The Food Service Industry Training Program prepares candidates for employment in Japan’s restaurant, hotel, café, and food service sectors under the Specified Skilled Worker (SSW – Food Service) or the Technical Intern Training Program (TITP), depending on experience and placement. The program combines Japanese language training and understanding of Japanese style workplace discipline, rules to help students adapt confidently to Japan’s fast-paced service industry.

To date, we have successfully produced more than 49 graduates who have flown to Japan.

Career & Work Information

  • Visa Options: Technical Intern Training Program (TITP)/Specified Skilled Worker (SSW – Food Service) 
  • Work Locations: Food service facilities across Japan
  • Stay Duration:
    • SSW Type 1 (Food Service): Up to generally 5 years total
    • TITP:
      TITP i  :  1 year
      TITP ii :  2 years
      TITP iii : 2 years * only if strict criteria is met

  • Future Path:
    • Skill improvement and professional experience
    • Transition from TITP to SSW (if eligibility requirements are met)
    • Career growth opportunities within Japan’s hospitality and food service sector

Frequently Asked Questions

Yes. Restaurants, hotels, cafés, and large food service facilities face staff shortages, especially outside major cities. Meihoku Training prepares students with practical skills, Japanese workplace knowledge, and customer service training, making them highly employable in Japan’s food service industry.

Yes. According to Japanese law, you will have at least one day off per week.
Paid leave is also available.

  • SSW applicants: JLPT N4 or JFT-Basic required.
  • TITP applicants: Basic conversational ability needed; JLPT not mandatory at entry.

    Our Meihoku Training staff will guide you what level of Japanese is needed depend on your path way.
