It has been about seven years since he began working in Japan.
From the time he first arrived, he continued making steady efforts, one step at a time, and has now successfully passed the Specified Skilled Worker (ii) examination in Construction.
We spoke with Mr. Panas about his journey, his thoughts, and his aspirations.
■ Why did you decide to work in Japan?
“I wanted to learn Japan’s advanced technology and grow as a person.”
■ Why did you aim for Specified Skilled Worker (ii)?
“I want to continue working in Japan for a long time. I also wanted to further improve my professional knowledge and technical skills.”
■ What did you do to prepare for the exam?
“I summarized technical terms in a notebook. For the parts I found difficult, I reviewed them repeatedly until I fully understood them. I studied hard every day.”
■ What do you think is important in Japanese workplaces?
“I believe greetings, punctuality, teamwork, and maintaining safety are very important.”
■ How did you feel when you passed?
“I was very happy. I felt that my efforts had paid off.”
■ What are your goals for the future?
“I want to continue studying and further improve my professional skills. I also hope to become someone who can guide and support junior colleagues.”
■ Message to juniors who aim to work in Japan
“Working in Japan is not easy. Adjusting to a different country and a different lifestyle can be challenging. But please believe in yourself. It is okay to make mistakes.
If you keep making small efforts every day toward your goal, they will surely become your strength in one year. Do not give up—keep challenging yourself.”
